One of the most powerful antioxidants discovered to date, Alpha Lipoic Acid is both lipid and water-soluble. This means it can reach all portions of the cell, and provide protection from free radicals.
It increases energy production in the cell and which results in an aged cell being better able to repair itself.

What benefits does Alpha Lipoic Acid have over other antioxidant-based cosmetics?
It is a universal and metabolic antioxidant, proven to be twenty to fifty times more powerful than other antioxidants such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It also has the ability to increase energy production in aged cells, results in a more youthful appearance. Though very powerful, it is non-irritating even to the most sensitive skin.

What can I expect to happen to my skin when I use Alpha Lipoic Acid?
Alpha Lipoic Acid contains Layered Rejuvenation Technology^TM, and therefore many effects are seen at different points in time with continued use of products.
Alpha Lipoic Acid Face Firming Activator contains NTP Complex^TM, which boosts levels of nutrients available to the skin, providing greater muscle tone. This
effect can be seen in the first 15-20 minutes of use. Within three days of use, pores visibly appear smaller resulting in a smoother complexion. Since Face Firming Activator also contains an alpha hydroxy acid, it also helps exfoliate dead cells from the surface of the skin, further contributing to a smoother appearance. After two weeks of product use, you will begin to notice a decreased appearance of fine lines. Six to eight weeks of use results in diminishment of acne as well as other types of scars.

Can Alpha Lipoic Acid be used with other products?
Yes. It is a mild, non-acidic antioxidant that can be used by people with sensitive skin and by those using alpha hydroxy acids or Retin-A'. Because our Face Firming Activator contains some glycolic acid, it may not be necessary to use an additional alpha hydroxy acid product. Use of Alpha Lipoic Acid in conjunction with Vitamin C Ester, as well as Retin-A' type products, can enhance the effects. Our Alpha Lipoic Acid Evening Facial Emollient contains Retinol, a precursor of Retin-A', and therefore may be used without additional use of Retin-A'.

Can Alpha Lipoic Acid protect from sun damage?
Yes. It is a powerful antioxidant that can provide protection from free radicals generated by ultraviolet radiation. It should be used in conjunction with a sunscreen or our SPF 15 Alpha Lipoic Acid Body Lotion. Use of Alpha Lipoic Acid with sunscreen provides greater protection from ultraviolet radiation generated free radicals', and therefore prevention of photo-aging is enhanced.
