Vitamin C Ester

Please review the general question below related to the Vitamin C Ester product line.

You can also find product information at the Vitamin C Ester product line descriptions page or in the choosing your primary concern page.

While boosting production of collagen in the skin, Vitamin C Ester provides a more youthful appearance. It penetrates the skin 8 times faster than L-ascorbic acid products, therefore providing higher levels of Vitamin C to the skin and skin structures. This results in diminishment of fine lines and wrinkles and an overall firmer appearance to the skin.

How does Vitamin C Ester differ from other Vitamin C products?
Most other Vitamin C products are based on L-ascorbic acid, the acidic form of Vitamin C, which is water soluble. In order to be effective, L-ascorbic acid
products must be at a strength of at least 10% and at a very low pH. Low pH means that the product is extremely acidic and therefore, tends to sting and irritate
even moderately sensitive skin. This type of product can be difficult to use if consumers also are using alpha hydroxy acids or Retin-A', since these products can
increase sensitivity of skin. Because L-ascorbic acid is water soluble, it has more difficulty penetrating the skin. Since Vitamin C Ester is fat soluble, it penetrates the
skin eight times faster, providing much higher levels of skin compatible Vitamin C into the skin.

There has been publicity that only L-ascorbic acid is active in cells. Is Vitamin C Ester active once it enters the skin?
The benefits and effects of Vitamin C Ester have been tested on human skin for over 11 years. These tests proved that Vitamin C Ester is active in prevention of
free radical damage from ultraviolet radiation and sunlight. Studies using human culture cells show that Vitamin C Ester is effective in promoting collagen production
by boosting levels of the collagen producing cells, fibroblasts.

What percentage of Vitamin C Ester is in the product?
Vitamin C Ester is provided at a level of 15% in the Restorative Night Cream and 18% in the Eye Area Therapy. These are the highest levels available in
commercial products that can maintain stability for two years without losing potency.

Can the Vitamin C products be used by all skin types?
Yes. Vitamin C Ester can be used by people with all skin types, even those with sensitive skin. Because it is non-acidic and lipid soluble, it rapidly penetrates the
skin without causing irritation. All the ingredients are non-comedogenic, meaning they will not clog pores and cause acne.

How long will it take before I see results?
Because the Vitamin C Ester products are formulated with Layered Rejuvenation TechnologyTM, several layers of skin technology are delivered over time. Results are visible within 15-20 minutes after applying the Amine Complex Face Lift or the Concentrated Restorative Cream, as they contain NTP ComplexTM. NTP ComplexTM provides nutrients which contribute to muscle tone, and this action can be felt immediately within 15-20 minutes. The Concentrated Restorative Cream also contains glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid, which will exfoliate the skin, giving a smoother appearance in three days. After using Vitamin C Ester products for 2-4 weeks, Vitamin C levels in skin are increased. Skin has a smoother, firmer appearance.

Can Vitamin C Ester be used with other anti-aging products?
Yes. Vitamin C Ester, because it is lipid soluble and non-acidic, is compatible with all other anti-aging products. Vitamin C Ester has been used with hundreds of
patients who had been using Retin-A' and in a test situation, Vitamin C Ester enhanced the action of Retin-A'. Vitamin C Ester products can also be used with alpha
hydroxy products; however, the Concentrated Restorative Cream contains glycolic acid, so that it may not be necessary to use an additional alpha hydroxy acid
product.

Will the use of Copper peptide and Vitamin C interact with one another?
Typically the use of` Copper peptide Complex skin cream and Vitamin C
may deactivate the effectiveness of one another. That is not the case
with Dr. Perricone's Vitamin C Ester because it is not the common
typical form of L ascorbic acid. His products contain ascorbyl
palmitate, which has a neutral pH level and will not cause the
irritating interaction most L ascorbic acid products cause.
